广州湾(法语：Kouang-Tchéou-Wan；英语：Kwangchowan)是1899至1945年法国在中国的唯一租借地，地理范围约同于今广东省湛江市市区。1925年，面对祖国山河破碎与列强横行的时局，闻一多先生将广州湾与澳门、香港、台湾、威海卫、九龙和旅大并称为祖国的“七子”，通过诗歌将广州湾比喻为“神州后门上的一把铁锁”。广州湾既是法国在北部湾和中国西南势力范围的重要支点，也是抗战期间全国海陆交通的自由港、中转站和大通道，战时广州湾堪称“中国的卡萨布兰卡”。

承继广州湾的历史文化，湛江愈加重视广州湾历史文化的研究与传播，阮应祺、苏宪章、刘佐泉、谭启滔、龙鸣、景东升等学者笔耕不辍；湛江市广州湾研究会、岭南师范学院广州湾研究所等机构应声而立；《广州湾史料汇编》（第1辑）、《广州湾历史与记忆》、《广州湾钩沉》等书籍相继出版。此外，学界日益关注广州湾的历史研究，在研究视野上，既关注租借地内部的情况，也关注广州湾与粤港澳琼的密切往来，广州湾与法属印度支那的关系也得到更多重视；在研究专题上，除了传统的政治、经济、军事范畴，外交、国际关系、社会生活和难民问题等成为广州湾研究新的切入点；在研究方法上，在爬梳文献资料的基础上，口述历史和田野调查等方法也被引入广州湾研究。

我们几位青年学人由衷地希望广州湾历史研究的有价值成果能为广大读者所知悉，因此发起成立“广州湾历史研究资讯”公众号。本公众号自2015年12月创立以来，已陆续推出多期文章，设有书评、资源、史料、论文、译介、田野记等多个栏目。本着“至新、至全、至诚心”的宗旨，我们将坚持学术性、知识性、原创性，凝聚广州湾历史文化爱好者社区，协力推进广州湾历史研究与学术交流。

History Research Newsletter of Kwangchowan

Guangzhouwan(French: Kouang-Tchéou-Wan; English: Kwangchowan) was the only leased territory of France in China from 1899 to 1945, with a geographical coverage approximately equal to the current urban district of Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province. In 1925, witnessing a broken China and imperialist conquests, Wen Yiduo , a famous poet, who described Kwangchowan，Macao, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Weihai Wei, Kowloon and Dalian & Port Arthur as seven sons of China, compared Kwangchowan to a lock of the door of China territory. Kwangchowan, which can be called as “Chinese Casablanca” at the Anti-Japanese War , was not only noted for being an outlier for French to maintain its spheres of influence in the Gulf of Tokin and South-western China, but also for its significant role during the Anti-Japanese War as a free port, a freight station and a major corridor in the nationwide land and sea transportation networks.

Recently, to inherit the history and culture of Kwangchowan, there is a growing concern about the research and the dissemination of it. Scholars like Ruan Yingqi, Su Xianzhang, Liu Zuoquan, Tan Qitao，Long Ming and Jing Dongsheng are committed to write the history of Kwangchowan. In addition, many academic institutes have sprung up, such as Zhangjiang Kwangchowan Research Society and Kwangchowan Research Institute of Lingnan Normal University. A number of books, including the Compilation of Historical Documents of Kwangchowan, the History and Memory of Kwangchowan and Rediscovery of Kwangchowan, have been published.

More importantly, scholars have shed a light onhistorical studies of Kwangchowan in every aspect. In terms of research visions, current studies focus on internal affaires in Kwangchowan，as well as its strong connection with Canton, Hong Kong, Macao, Hainan Island and French Indochina. What’s more, apart from traditional concerns like politics, economics and military, diplomacy, international relations, social issues and the problems of refugees have been new breakthrough points for the studies of Kwangchowan. Oral history, field research and other approaches have also been applied to present researches as a necessary complement to literature reviews.

We, some young researchers, set up this Wechat subscription account History Research Newsletter of Kwangchowan in December 2015, sincerely hoping that these invaluable findings could be known to the majority. Since its establishment, our account has published some issues，and consists of various columns covering a wide range from book reviews, resources, historic materials, essays, translations to field notes. With an aim to convey the latest, the most comprehensive and the most authentic information to the public, all the offerings are guaranteed to be academic，informative and original. We will try our utmost to operate the community to attract and gather all lovers who are interested in Kwangchowan history and culture, contributing to a joint effort to promote the historical research and academic communications of Kwangchowan.
